Sizing
One thing is required for purchasing vintage clothing – YOUR MEASUREMENTS!
Vintage sizes and modern day sizes are very different. That is why it is important that you know your measurements. If you are not sure about sizing send us your measurements and we will help.
How we measure
All measurements are approximate. All clothing is measured by laying it on a flat surface and measuring across the entire surface of the item. The numbers are then doubled – If the waist measures 15” across it is really a 30” waist. (15+15=30). The bust measurements are taken just underneath the armpit area. We take that measurement and double it. The waist is measured the same way. The sleeves are measured from the top of the sleeve seam to the end of the sleeve or cuff. The length is taken from the top of the collar to the bottom of the hemline. Hip measurements are taken from side to side also. If no hip measurements are given usually it is because the garment is full in the hips. If a garment has a 30” waist and a 36” bust – that is the maximum inches that will fit into that garment.
Outerwear measurements should be compared to the measurements of similar outerwear that fits you. Please consider how many layers you might wear underneath in a cold climate.
Shoes
We list the actual shoe measurements. We measure the sole from heel to toe, the widest part of the sole from side to side and the height of the heel. If a marked measurement is visible in the shoe we will include that. Sometimes it is impossible to be sure of the exact shoe size and we have to go by the measurements. We suggest that you do the same with a similar style shoe that fits you. It should be a shoe with a similar heel height. To be certain that a shoe will fit, measure your shoe across the ball of the foot from toe to heel and compare the measurements with our vintage shoes.
